Amber M. | Bryant University
“Connecting with the professional community of the Lex Fellowship really eased my nerves coming into my first year of law school, especially since I studied business in undergrad and didn’t have that legal network. My Legal Associate, who is a 2L at George Washington Law, was amazing and has continued to stay in touch with me as I now begin law school.”
An extended testimonial from Elena:
“I truly do not think I would have gotten into Cornell without Lex”
What was the law school application process like?
“Although stressful, adequate preparation and time allocation helps to lower the anxiety around applications. I knew I wanted to go to Cornell law school, so I applied early decision as soon as the application opened. When I got the call from the admissions office in October, I could hardly believe my ears. I jumped up and down and couldn’t wait to tell my family and friends. I was amazed at what hard work can bring, and I cannot wait to start law school in the fall.”
How did Lex help you in the application process?
“The Lex Fellowship was an invaluable experience for me. The exposure to different forms of law, mentorship from various lawyers, and advice from a current law school student truly made my experience memorable. My Legal Associate provided us with cases to read, and she then analyzed and discussed their meanings and implications with us. I learned so much from her, and I even brought this style of learning back to students at my undergraduate school in our law association.
The Lex Fellowship, and everyone involved, not only bolstered my resume, but I had an experience of a lifetime and made lasting friendships. I truly do not think I would have gotten into Cornell without Lex. The time spent in Madrid with the Lex Fellowship allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of the law and everything surrounding it before I even entered law school! Thank you Lex!”
An extended testimonial from Lauren:
“It was the first time I could really see myself succeeding in law school…”
What was your favorite part of Lex?
“The Lex Fellowship was a really great opportunity to meet people who are going into the same profession as I am. It was the first time I could really see myself succeeding in law school and actually belonging in the profession. My Legal Associate was my favorite part. It is so invaluable to be able to meet someone who is in law school, and really motivated me to to learn as much about the law as I can. The fellowship also showed me how much I am going to be confused in contracts... but I am excited to learn.
What was the law school application process like for you?
The application process was really when I started to learn who was in my corner supporting me. I started my personal statement during the summer and constantly went to the career center at my school to improve my resume. I chose South Carolina because I loved the location. I can see myself practicing in South Carolina, especially in Columbia.
Knowing that I have an interest in federal prosecution, they are only two blocks away from the National Advocacy Center and have a strong connection with them. I've met individuals who go to the law school who have the same interests as I do and I see the law school giving me a lot of opportunities that will put me in a good position when I graduate.”
